Our Mission
To foster an environment which nurtures success and embraces diversity and inclusion among students, residents, faculty and staff through recruitment, retention, and development of programs that promote the benefits of diversity, inclusion and cultural competence. The Indiana University School of Medicine Diversity Council, a broad representation of selected volunteers committed to a comprehensive concept of diversity and inclusion, seeks to leverage its experience, expertise or insights to affect positive change on school-wide diversity strategic planning.
Our Vision
IUSM will be recognized for incorporating value and respect for diversity and inclusion into every aspect of the School’s threefold mission of service, education, and research to the extent that students, residents, faculty, staff and patients that we serve will recognize and choose IUSM as the number one choice for teaching, learning, research, and health care.
Our Structure
Office of the Dean (Leadership): the Dean, Executive Associate Deans, Associate Dean for Diversity Affairs and Directors provide direction and strategic decision
Diversity Council: a broadly representative think-tank, composed of selected volunteers committed to a comprehensive concept of diversity and able to bring experience, expertise or insights to bear on campus-wide planning on diversity initiatives
Division of Diversity Affairs: function as a bridge between the central leadership and various task forces and participants, with the responsibility to help facilitate communication and coordination on diversity-related projects and activities
