Mission Statement

The Mission of the Division of Diversity Affairs (DDA) through an emphasis on inclusion, diversity and respect, seeks to enhance the cultural competence of the medical school community and foster the accomplishment of its tripartite mission through programming in the areas of recruitment, retention and community service.

Vision Statement

To establish an organizational culture in which differences such as race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, and other physical abilities/qualities are not merely present, but where cultural identity is highly valued and where any barriers to full organizational participation in the environment are removed.

Core Values

• IUSM stands to benefit from a systemic integration and emphasis on diversity across the fabric of the institution. 
• Affirming diversity is an essential element in accomplishing the research, teaching, and service missions of the School of Medicine.
• Affirming diversity is critical in providing culturally competent healthcare.
• A diverse physician workforce is essential to meet the needs of the rapidly changing demographics of today’s environment.
