Our mission is to:
- Improve the recruitment, retention, and advancement of women faculty and students
- Provide women faculty and medical students with support for personal and professional development
- Promote an equitable, inclusive culture in which all faculty and students can thrive
The IUSM Women's Advisory Council was established in the Fall of 2006 to provide needed guidance for achieving these goals. The inaugural Chair was Karen West, MD. For 2008-2009, the Council has 28 appointed members and is co-chaired by Karen West, MD and Mary Dankoski, PhD. Click herepdf for a current roster of Council members (pdf).
Current priorities for the Council include: a) institutional barriers that disproportionately affect women (such as flexibility in career paths and part-time faculty issues), b)advancement and mentoring, c) leadership training opportunities, and d) building high-impact communication strategies for the Council.
All meetings occur on the 3rd Monday of the month, from 4-5 pm in Daly 122 C&D.
